Cape Eleuthera Marina

Before sunrise, again
Sunrise, now and hour later

Nice gentle swells and relatively flat seas. We boost our normal cruising speed because of the long distance we have to cover. Very pleasant motoring day. I was able to work below while Linda kept watch.

With the autopilot it made for a relaxing day. As we approach the southern end of Eluethera. We see the construction of Disney’s newest cruise ship destination. They have a partially built pier which will extend a few 1000 feet out from the shore. There was a lot of controversy over Disney buying up this land. The land includes Lighthouse Point which is a very scenic area that Disney has donated back to the government for a national park. Except you can’t get there across Disney land. You have to walk two miles along the beach to get there. Kind of lame access for a National Park.

We reach Cape Eleuthera Marina, just before 5:00PM and check in. Linda and I have dinner at the Harbour Restaurant at the Marina.

A fishing boat pulls into the slip next to us. Sharks know the sound of a fishing boat, vs sailboat or trawler and will follow fishing boats in looking for a free snack. Unfortunately for them the sound of unsuccessful fisherman and successful fisherman is the same and these guys can back empty handed.
