North Miami, Oleta River

We still have a couple days before we have a weather window to cross the Gulf Stream so we do not need to rush to Key Biscayne our usual crossing point. I spend about two hours in the dinghy and in the water washing the boat hull. This is the first real cleaning since we left Vermont and after a week in Fort Lauderdale it is real dirty. After lunch, Linda & I and Mark & Karen go for a long ride in our dinghies. We explore the Oleta River to the north and undeveloped area in North Miami and then return through Maule Lake which was created from a limestone quarry, long before the land around here became so valuable. We finish the afternoon playing “Mexican Train”.
