We leave at 8:00am for Calabash Bay on the north end of Long Island. We sailed for a while but eventually have to motor-sail and we arrive at 1:30PM. Calabash Bay is noted for a lot of surge when the wind is out of the north and northeast, which we have today. All the boats are rocking side to side, even the catamarans. We have been lucky in the past here and anchored here with east trade winds and found it rather calm, even though windy. Mark picks us up with their dinghy, which is good, I don’t think I would of bothered to launch ours.
We ride into Santa Maria Resort for lunch. They are apparently less encouraging of cruisers of coming ashore, than in the past, but we don’t find any problems. We have lunch outside on the patio with other cruisers. Lunch is very good.

Back on the boat we
are rocking and rolling. Watching TV requires bracing the TV mount
to keep the screen from moving. I pull down the shade on the port next to the TV so we don't have to watch the bouncing lights from the other boats as the port rolls up and down. Fortunately I usually sleep on my
back which is a big advantage on a rocking boat. Side sleepers have a
hard time. Linda wedges herself between the hull and a couple
pillows. Tomorrow morning we plan to leave at sunrise, since
hanging out in this surge is no fun.
