Spooner Creek

We have a leisurely morning, I make the usual Sunday Morning Pancakes. We have and early morning squall come through, but most of the thunder and lightning passes to the north. We head out around 10:45 to catch the Onslow Swing Bridge opening on the Marine base at 11:30 AM.

We have lots of wind on our stern and it builds up through the afternoon. Even though is was mostly sunny and 77 degrees it was a little chilly with all the wind. By the time we get to Spooner Creek it is averaging over 30 knots. Not many boats out. A little nervous going down the narrow, shallow channel to Spooner Creek, with all this wind, not much room for error. No room to turn around if there are problems without going aground. We make in OK and have lots of protection from the wind in the protected basin, lined with buildings.

Entrance to Spooner, viewed from our anchorage, windy out there
