Annapolis

Dodging Fish Traps miles out in the Bay

The day started off cloudy and foggy. Just north of Solomons we past the liquified natural gas offloading dock that is about a mile or two off shore. For the first time for us, we see a tanker there that has been off-loading since yesterday. Now we see a bunch of tug boats milling around and they announce over the VHF that the tanker will be leaving soon. We motor most the day to Annapolis.

Liquified Natural Gas Tanker

Being a Saturday there are lots of boats out fishing.
The Severn River approaching Annapolis is rather rough from all the power boats coming and going. Martin had planned to anchor in front of the Naval Academy, but changed his mind and went into Spa Creek past the drawbridge. We enter Spa Creek ½ hour later. Linda gets upset with me because I did not take the last free mooring entering Spa Creek. We anchor further in. Later Martin calls me and moves SKUA further back in Spa Creek where there is more room. Linda and I head into town for chilly at the Iron Rooster. The weather radar is showing a thunderstorm heading our way, so we speed up our return to the boat. We can see lightning in the distance, but in the end the storm passes just to our north. Back on the boat we watch the next to last installment of Game of Thrones.
