Teslin

Another day another 4 cruise ships. When I went to bed last night the docks were empty. This morning we wake up and 4 more have replaced yesterdays.

The boat people

We have a quick breakfast and pack up to leave before too many passengers start walking into town. Have an interesting conversation with our neighbors in the RV Park. He is Canadian and she has dual citizenship USA/ Ecuador.

We stop at a small bakery for a cinnamon bun and coffee. The streets are empty of cars and we can park in front of any establishment for at least 20 minutes.

We gas up and get out of dodge. The road out of Skagway is an impressive bit of civil engineering and dynamite. Great scenery. We head to Teslin to a boondocking spot we stayed at 6 weeks ago. It was really cold and windy then and we had the heat on all night. Today we arrive and it is nearly 80 degrees and gorgeous. The lake is almost warm enough to swim in. Two people wade out a ways, but not me. By bed time there are 8 RV’s here for the night

For us Leaving Alaska, actually

Late morning after we cross back into BC from Alaska, we arrive at the slide area that cut off the highway to Skagway a couple weeks ago. They are still running one way at a time lead car through the slide area, which they are still digging out. Dump trucks are continuously running a loop about 8 miles down the highway to dump the slide dirt and rocks.
