Sea Vu Play, Manana & Manannan, 3 boats on the right

We take a dinghy ride to Shark Creek with “Sea Vu Play” and “Manannan”. We leave around 8:00AM to catch high tide. The wind was in the wrong direction to visit Turtle Creek which rippled the surface making it hard to get a worthwhile pictures of turtles. Just looked like fast moving rocks. We were back to the Marina by 11:30 AM.

Another boat comes into the Marina “Windara” owned by Melissa and Chris. I first met Melissa via correspondence, since last year they owned a Catalina 36 and spent much of the winter in the Abacos. They both work remotely and travel on weekends and work during the week. Last year I had been asking Melissa lots of questions about familiar places in the Abacos that were hit by Hurricane Dorian.

So it was nice to finally meet her and Chris in person.

GH, Ice Cream

Hung around the boat today working on odds and ends. Bought a pint of Ice Cream, the highlight of Linda’s day.

I make French Toast with Panettone bread for breakfast. I ride a marina bike into town for fresh veggies. Not much available, the Mailboat did not come in last week. I get Avocados, Zukes and spinach. My turn to go the Beach Club without Linda. "Played" golf again today. I still suck. Meet Mark and Karen for Lunch between the 5th and 6th holes. I get my first conch burger, they make the best ones in the Bahamas. 

 

Our Canadian friends who we first met on the Hudson, “Manannan”, Christine and Peter arrive and are one the other side of our dock. They left Key Biscayne a day after us and went to Bimini and Cat Cay before heading here.

Linda spends another day on the boat. Tonight is BBQ night, where some local ladies make dinner, Ribs, Chicken, pork and some great sides. They pack it up into cardboard clam shells. I mask up and get dinner for Linda and I to eat back on the boat.

GH, Golf

I’m feeling better, Linda is feeling worse. Linda tests positive for Covid. I go play Golf since I am by myself and no one else is around. The “Golf Course” is the remaining 9 holes of a once 18 hole golf course built in the late 60’s and was one of the top 25 courses in the world at that time. Well, it is no longer in the top 25, but I would say it has to be in the top 10 for most challenging courses in the world. The local home owners have it mowed periodically. The “Greens” often require a wedge to get over some of the deep vegetation.

Still having issues with connecting to the internet. I resurrect my old WiFi boaster to connect to the anemic Marina WiFi. I have not had to use it in years.

GH, Hangout

 

Linda is now not feeling too well. We hangout on the boat today, assuming Linda is getting Covid. Will test her tomorrow morning. Make a pizza for dinner, watch more Jack Ryan

GH, Quaratine

We do some more boat cleaning. I will be hanging our here for the next 5 days. Linda and Karen go for a long walk to the shelling beach at low tide. They stop af the Beach Club on the way back for lunch. We have Lobster Mac & Cheese for dinner, from our leftover lobster and start watching the latest Jack Ryan series on Amazon. Our Island WiFi device which worked very well our last time is not working very well this time. The nearby Cruise ship Island, Coco Cay, is using much of the local cell tower bandwidth when the ships are in, as claimed by the Island WiFi folks. I have been downloading Amazon shows when I wake up in the middle of the night when no one is using the cell towers.

We spend the morning doing some deferred boat cleaning. We walk to the “Beach Club” an outdoor restaurant on the east side of the island.

In the afternoon I buy some lobster tails from the local fishermen that clean their catch on the docks down from the Marina. A good dinner for tonight.

I haven’t been feeling to great today, so in the afternoon I take a Covid test and am positive, SOB! I later figure out I caught it at the "Genius Bar" at the crowded Apple store. " Genius Bar", that's an oxymoron. It was the only place I have been in a crowd. Linda makes dinner and I go to bed early.
